Bryn Mawr Hospital ER

(Top) Lisa, Caterisano, x-ray technician at Bryn Mawr Hospital , wheels 4-year old Lyla Scott into the Emergency Room as her mother, Anne Marie Scott (right), offers soothing words of encouragement. With other area emergency rooms closed or overcrowded, Bryn Mawr's ER sees an average of 3,100 patients a month and could see over 40,000 this year for the first time ever.

(2nd fron top) Mark Bonnington, M.D. listens to Lyla Scott's breathing after the 4-year-old is admitted to Bryn Mawr Hospitals Emergency Department. The hospital plans to have a separate pediatric unit after its emergency department expansion is complete.

(4th from top) A pair of Marple Township EMS medics rush a man into the ER. As many as 140 patients have been seen in a single day, up from the days when 90 patients would have been considered a busy day for the staff.

Easter Egg Hunt

The annual Easter Egg Hunt at McMoran Field hosted by Belmont Hills Civic Assiociation . About 2,000 eggs were quickly scooped up by happy children.

Kobe Bryant

Kobe Bryant visits students and faculty at Lower Merion High School in Ardmore Pa., on Friday Mar. 9, 2007. Bryant is still the most popular guy around at Lower Merion High, in the Philadelphia suburbs, and his trip back on Friday before the Lakers played the 76ers sent the student population into a frenzy not unlike when he led the 1996 basketball team to a state championship.

Narberth Ambulance Ride Along

Narberth Paramedics Michael Corbo and Jena Schlegel respond to a call for a high school student who fainted during an assembly. The patient was trasported to Bryn Mawr Hospital for treatment.

Birdwatch

A group of students from the Ancient Worlds and Waterways program at Bala Cynwyd Middle School participate in a Birdwatch program mointoring bird-feeders at the Lower Merion Conservancy office in rolling hill park. Students Learn how to identify common feeder species such as chicadees, nuthatches, cardinals, and sparrows using books and charts. Data collected by students is then submitted to the Cornell University's Lab of Ornithology FeederWatch program, and combined with data collected from citizens around the country.

Brittany Sloan, a Radnor High School senior, dances cheek to cheek with 91-year-old Lou Flaxenburg at a senior (citizens) prom at Sunrise Assisted Living in Haverford. Sloan, who is president of the high school's service board, launched the idea of a prom to span the generations three years ago.

Paul Rusesabagina

Paul Rusesabagina, the real-life inspiriation behind the movie "Hotel Rwanda," speaks to students at Villanova University on February 13th, 2007.

Rusesabagina, who sheltered more than a thousand refugees in a hotel he managed during the 1994 slaughter of millions of Tutsu Rwandese, now works to prevent future genocides in Africa.
